How I crocheted Halata shawl from one of the most beautiful yarns I had
About two years ago, I was searching crochet groups on Facebook and came across a perfect crochet scarf. It wasn't about the scarf's pattern; the colours got me. I wanted them immediately, but the yarn wasn’t sold in the Czech Republic. So, I ordered the yarn directly from Poland. It was Kokonki A914.
The yarn was in my apartment for almost a year. I couldn't figure out the right pattern for it because I didn't want to spoil the colours. Then, one evening, my brain started working and I thought I would make another popular scarf, the so-called Halata.
I started crocheting. I remember very well that I crocheted this scarf while on holiday in Switzerland and dragged the yarn to the top of an iceberg. There, I could sit and crochet in peace.
As I have probably mentioned before, I'm a fan of simpler patterns and more colourful balls; Halata was one of the more complex patterns I decided to crochet. Somehow, I managed to make one small extra 'triangle' on one side. A lot of mistakes were made. God knows how.
The ball was a three-thread, so I made my life even more complicated and had to crochet the scarf for a long time. I finally finished it half a year later, after having to force myself to come back to it several times. In my defence, this time, it was a 1300-meter yarn, which is huge.
The scarf measures 223 centimetres on the hypotenuse and 132 centimetres on the opposite.
A funny note for the end. I crocheted the scarf before Christmas and lit a candle. What a shock I got when the yarn suddenly loosened. I had burned it with the candle! But the fix was simple (a few tiny knots), and I was ready to continue.
Finally, because I always make my schemas for myself, here is my hand-drawn schema, Halata.
