Crochet shawl – Vobjedno

Crocheting again.
I went on a shopping spree a year back and bought a few yarns from the luxurious German brand Lola. Their yarns are fluffy like sheep; they're very nice.
The highlight for me was the yarn Lola Tschakka, in which the colours are mixed at once. That yarn enchanted me, and I added it to my basket immediately.
For a long time, I had been thinking about what pattern to choose; I wanted an airy, oversized scarf that wouldn't need much material. I was thinking way too much and decided to make my own pattern, though it’s a simple one.
I call it Vobjedno; in the Czech language, it means "every second one" in a Prague accent.
I took the scarf and yarn with me to Tenerife, where I spent the winter of 2021/22. I dragged it around the island, and when the time was good, I started crocheting basically anywhere it was possible.
I didn't think of one thing: the volcanic sand on Tenerife. It took me weeks to get the sand from the yarn and then from the scarf. But at least the scarf has a lava effect :)
The shawl is gigantic. The British would say it's massive. It is 265 centimetres on the hypotenuse and 186 centimetres on the opposite. That made it a few inches bigger than Bobbelicious, and it's the biggest scarf I've ever made.
Lola really nailed the colours – four differently hued, beautifully combined threads. It was great to see the colours spinning around in my hands. Maybe it was more interesting than the scarf itself.
The scarf has such a simple pattern that it was impossible to screw it up. I like it this way. I don't want to stress out while crocheting; it's supposed to be a hobby!
I like to wear this scarf; it's my trophy. However, the biggest and most valuable trophy remains Bobbelicious.
